Do Not Type - Just Speak!
The birth of this app is an attempt to avoid all scenarios requiring keyboard input. You can use it for:
1. Voice Notes
There isn't much to explain here; it's just a simple call to the Whisper API. I added an automatic tagging function to it, allowing you to categorize your notes by #hashtag in the future.
2. Sentence Embellishment
As someone whose verbal expression is far from the level of my written skills, when using voice to take notes, I might utter a lot of pauses and disorderly expressions. So, I added a sentence embellishment feature where after voice input, GPT makes the sentences more organized.
3. Automatic Translation
This was a feature I wanted to add during the Whisper Notes development. As a non-native speaker, sometimes I need to reply in English, but simple English doesn't always fully express my thoughts. The typical solution is to ask GPT or DeepL to translate my sentences into English, and then paste the translated result as a response. This process is manageable on a computer but can be quite challenging on a mobile phone.
Additionally, you can combine it with the sentence embellishment feature to make your translated sentences more coherent and expressive.
4. Simultaneous Interpretation
The difference between this and automatic translation is that you can choose two languages (e.g., English and Japanese). When you speak in English, it will translate it into Japanese and read it out in Japanese. Conversely, when you speak in Japanese, it will translate and read it out in English. It's perfect for travelers in a foreign country where the languages differ. However, for now, it only allows manual button recording and cannot provide uninterrupted real-time translation.
One more thing...(lol)
After taking so many notes, how can you search through them? Given the product's characteristic of 'avoiding typing as much as possible', naturally, search also supports voice input :)
■ Privacy
This app doesn't have a server. We utilize the Whisper and GPT APIs to accomplish all of the functions mentioned. Therefore, your voice input is sent directly the API provider. Your voice and text data will be visible to them.
Apart from that, all your data is stored locally on your phone; once you delete it, it's gone.
■ Finally
The initial purpose of "Do Not Type", is still to meet my personal needs, and because it uses the Whisper and GPT API, it is not free. I'm not sure if it can also be of help to you.
