The remote app is an addition to the volume.lock app, if you want to have the control from your iDevice to your child's iDevice.
Just download and connect to volume.lock app, no configuration or setup needed.

Make sure both devices are on the same Wifi connection or bluetooth is turned on to make the connection between the devices.
