About PiXL International

PiXL International’s goal is to help students everywhere achieve the exam results they are capable of, and have access to the learning materials they need to succeed.

Our App is available to teachers and leaders of schools and education officers in the PiXL International members’ network. Upon sign-up during the academic year, school leaders use the App to set exam goals for the year groups taking end-of-year national exams. They use the School Profile to input 1) a target pass rate in the national exams as a %; 2) the target number of students achieving each grade bracket; and 3) a school slogan, such as ‘we want zero students failing an exam this year!’

Next, teachers log-in and enter careful professional predictions as to what grades they expect their students will achieve in the same exams. The App then calculates the difference between the school’s goals and the predicted grades. It allocates students target grades which, if achieved, will allow the school to meet its goals.

Under a separate function, teachers can see students’ exam results for the past two years in both the teacher’s specialist subjects and for the school as a whole. When national exam results are published, these are presented on the App and the teachers can see whether the school’s goals and their student’s predicated/ target grades have been achieved.

Teachers also have access to learning checklists, where they can allocate a rating to each student (red, amber or green) for each syllabus subtopic. Teachers can easily recognise problematic subtopics when a class or single student has red and amber ratings. The teacher can then plan intervention events by targeting these topics with laser-like focus. These events are planned in a calendar, along with a compulsory testing event that must follow each intervention.

In addition, for each subject the App provides teachers with PDF access to the national curriculum, published examination board past papers (with model answers and exam board feedback) and textbook materials.

Finally, the App issues rewards to teachers in the form of badges. These are given when teachers make red, amber, green upgrades on the learning checklists; when a teacher completes an intervention event; when students achieve their predicted/target grades; and when predicted grades are upgraded.

Alongside all this the school leaders are given access to data from a top-level perspective, to be able to monitor and assist with the collective challenge of helping students achieve the results they are capable of.
