We chose slate gray/blue mohair for these chairs and itโs such a great but often under appreciated textile. ๐งถ
Mohair comes from the Angora goat and is extremely durable, which makes it excellent for dining chairs and all upholstery. ๐
Itโs easily cleanable and also non- flammable (which is why I have specified it for private jet interiors as well). And it regulates body temperature! ๐ก
Mohair has an unmistakable hand to it-soft yet sturdy and once you know what mohair looks like you can spot it a mile away. ๐
I like to use natural fibers whenever possible- the less chemicals we surround ourselves with, the healthier we will be. ๐ฟ
Fun fact: Mohair was used extensively as car upholstery before WW2 and it was said an Angora goat had to live and thrive for ten years to produce enough mohair to upholster the average car. ๐โญ๏ธ
My Pops told me he used to play tic-tac-toe in the nap of the mohair in his fatherโs sedan. ๐
So, next time you are considering a velvet, take a look at Mohair. I promise once you see and feel this luxurious fabric, you will be a fan too. ๐๐๐ปโค๏ธ
