Designing your Perfect Size Rug - Dining Edition! A beautiful rug can pull together a space and make it unique. Here is a guide to sizing your custom area rug, down to the inch! The perfect size allows for chairs to be accessed while all four legs remain on the rug. First, determine the size of your table and add 24”-36” on each of the four sides. The amount added depends on chair size; 24” if chairs are smaller scale, 30” is optimal, and 36” may be necessary when large scale chairs are utilized.
