(Text by the designer) The basic theme and concept of this 4,200 sq ft space was to create a sleek and contemporary bachelor pad. As my client had lived in New York for awhile, he wanted to recreate the look of a NY penthouse as well as take advantage of the 360 degree views that the apartment offered. As a result of which there's always a huge gap between the furniture and the glass facade, so one can stand by the windows 38 floors up and take in the stunning views. Since my client is a polo player as well, there are a few pops of equestrian themed art around the house eg a huge painting by Sacha Jafri that my client bid on at a Polo auction. The space had to be conducive to entertaining, as well as having a quiet night in, as a result of which a lot of the spaces like the bar and the living areas as well as the two outdoor decks were created and designed to mingle and socialise. With regards to the materials and finishes, the apartment has a very neutral and masculine palette. Solid wood floors throughout the apartment combined with monochromatic stone cladding ,and architectural lighting are perfect examples to achieve that look.
