𝐏𝐔𝐑𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐈𝐆𝐍: I was listening to some classic Prince online this morning, and his 1980s hit “Purple Rain” ☔️ reminded me of my own affinity for this rich, jewel tone color. Often used to denote royalty, purple has such a wide range of hues, from lavender and violet, to aubergine and merlot. And it makes for quite the bold statement, especially when it’s applied judiciously in interior design and architecture. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Back on July 30th, I posted here about commissioning all the interior doors of my clients’ American Colonial Revival manse to be lacquered a deep purple color. That post led to many inquiries and curious DMs. 😜 So for all of my IG friends here, yes, I 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 did do that, and here’s a close up shot from the foyer! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Collin’s Dictionary defines the term “whimsical” as ‘unusual, playful, and unpredictable, rather than serious and practical’. Traditional interior design is known for being formal. Likewise, this space is designed to be elegant, but we didn’t want the home to take itself too seriously. 😉 I love taking the classic Trad decorating genre and giving it an 𝘶𝘯𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 twist!—CDJ⁣⁣💜 ⁣⁣ #designremix ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣
