Here she is! .... Our new kitchen Island. I say new but she has been made from salvaged chestnut floorboards that we found right here in the barn and some old oak beams with some scrap oak floorboards to create the shelves and work too. A total budget of probably €0 and some handy skills from Mr C - I am just thrilled to have more workspace and storage here in the kitchen, it’s just taken me a while amongst other things to finish her with wax and a touch of paint. What do you think? Have you created anything out of reclaimed wood? I have been using natural decorations where possible this year and I’m so pleased that the dried orange thing took off. I really hope that it sparks some imagination about using natural alternatives when decorating for special occasions. I wonder what the farmers who built this farm would think of this barn now and our dried oranges! 😂😂😂 hopefully they would approve! I’m just stringing up a few more to add to the tree and then will move on to making some garlands and wreaths- although Infeel I’m a little late to the party this year. In other news Mr C found a tiny hedgehog scratching at the door last night who was only 300g when we weighed her. She is pretty much half the weight she should be and would not make it through the winter if we didn’t take her in. She’s currently curled up in her new nest waiting for dinner service this evening. Fingers crossed she will make it through. 🤞🏻 I know Christmas is just around the corner but I just haven’t been feeling it this year. It’s been a funny one hasn’t it?
