WHAT’S COOKING? This is the first induction hob I’ve had and it’s brilliant. It is @howdensjoinery own brand Lamona (along with the integrated extractor and preparatory lights). I opted for a higher spec which has a dual flex ring, where two rings can be combined in to one for larger pans or griddles. The hob also offers settings to keep pots warm, melting ingredients, bring to the boil, slow cooking and making coffee. It also has heat settings in each ring from from 0 to 18, which ensure you can heat your pans quickly. I already had a few pans that were compatible, but some weren’t. The hob alerts you if it’s not recognising contact with a pan and will switch itself off if after a few seconds. I can’t imagine going back to a standard electric or ceramic hob. If you are investing in new appliances, I would advise to spend extra if the budget allows and get the higher spec. Some argue that you would only use a few of the settings repeatedly, but I always say it’s better to have the option to do more if and when you want to. I also chose a splashback from @alusplash that was heat resistant and easy to clean, which could sit flush to the countertop behind the hob without and upstand.
