Social distancing rules have moved our desks from big office spaces to our own office space at home. Only time will tell if home office is a temporary solution, or the new norm...either way, better be prepared! 😉 ✅ First step: Preparation ▫️Ask yourself: how much desktop space do you require? What storage do you want? What are your printing requirements? ▫️Budget: the most basic office will need to include a desk, a chair, and some storage. So, no need for big spending, just make sure to leave some air in your budget for accessories. ▫️Location: in an ideal home office, you will have good natural light, privacy, and a quiet atmosphere. Think about which area in your house can fulfil these requirements. ✅ Second step: Choosing furniture ▫️The Desk: a desk should be at least 70cm wide and 45 cm deep. ▫️The Chair: an office chair should be on wheels, rotating, and able to fit beneath the desk so you can seamlessly move to complete your different tasks. Make sure it is ergonomic enough not to hurt your back. ▫️Storage: storage should be a combination of drawers and shelves if possible. ▫️Style it: choose furniture in harmony with the rest of your house in terms of colours and materials. ✅ Third step: Extras that make the difference! ▫️Adding a carpet: it adds some sound buffering to your working area ▫️Getting a good lamp: good lightning is key ▫️Support your back (tiny hack: a small stool for your feet) ▫️Coffee time at home should be just as fun as in the office.
