when working with small spaces, it’s important to pick furniture accordingly, especially if you’re renting! my kitchen is basically an open rectangle with the cupboards/sink along one long wall, and the other walls have the entrances to my bathroom, bedroom and living room. i had this table set previous to moving into this apartment, however i had measured to make sure my existing furniture would make sense in the space! i love that it fits perfectly down to the inch. i added an area rug for some character and to transform my kitchen into more of a sitting area. i think it also adds coziness to the space, especially now that i’m working from home and it’s become my office (hence the wacom on the table)! if you’re looking to furnish your home, a fun and more budget friendly way to purchase is to mix and match. if you find a table you love at a furniture store, opt for the table only. you can find tons of stylish and affordable chairs on fb marketplace, thrift stores, target, etc.. chairs can change the entire style you’re going for, and unless you’re constantly entertaining, there isn’t really a need for chairs that cost $100+. another design tip: if you also want nice chairs but don’t want to spend a ton, keep the 2 head chairs the same and opt for a different style for the remaining chairs! bonus: throw in a bench for more seating! keeping your kitchen clean and clutter free with also help when living in smaller spaces. be sure to to integrate functional storage and organizational components whenever you can. add a tray to your kitchen table as a catch all for produce, coasters, etc..
