Covid has given us an unusual gift, the opportunity to slow down and savor the season. Most years we’re frantic. The time between Thanksgiving and the New Year are referred to as the holi-daze, right? We are resilient, creative and keeping our loved ones safe is one of the best ways to show that we care. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let’s use our creativity and make NEW traditions! Instead of turkey, how about beef bourguignon? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Missing Grandma? Gather the cooks and have her show you how she makes her famous recipe via Facetime or Zoom. Have the ingredients delivered to Grandma so she doesn’t have to leave the house. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What about a coffee-table Christmas? Throw cushions on the floor and instead of a big meal, you can nosh on hors d’oeuvres while watching a movie marathon! (This is my idea of heaven.)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Instead of gifts, what about donating to a worthy cause? My sister has been donating to her local food pantry in lieu of gifts for years. There’s no shopping, no wrapping and no worry about postal cut-offs. It should be no surprise that non-profits are struggling mightily this year….especially food banks.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
