Making your home beautiful doesn’t have to cost tons of money. When we moved into our first apartment, I decorated on a budget because that was the only way I could do it. I scoured yard sales and thrift shops religiously, looking for potential in any and everything. As time went on, I did it out of enjoyment (and maybe the thrill of the chase!). Everything in our first home’s dining room was secondhand, thrifted, or refinished. The only things that weren’t were two of the white chairs, the ceiling medallion above the chandelier, and a gifted framed photograph from a friend’s wedding ❤️ The table was originally a $20, orangey oak find on Offerup that I sanded down and stained. The chandelier was another $15 marketplace find that I spray painted and changed out the bulbs. The shelf was originally dark brown. I sprayed painted it white to brighten it up. I decorated the shelves with pictures of places we’d been, my grandma’s amber glass sugar and creamer set, and a basket of some of my favorite books. I decided on the ceiling medallion above the chandelier because it reminded me of the AirBnB we once stayed at in London with friends. All this to say- when you decorate, find things that speak to you. “Home” becomes a collection of the things that you love that are meaningful to you. 🏠
