BEFORE - AFTER
I saw the opportunity to install a large table to be used for dining, work, study, puzzles, and to display books and objects of interest in this Brooklyn Heights duplex apartment.
I like dining tables to be as big as possible to provide the maximum multi-use horizontal surface, to expand the function beyond just dining; and to accommodate lots of people for meals (remember shared dining and company?!).
The previous owners delegated dining to a corner - not seen - placing upholstered seating and a TV (in the cabinet) as the primary function.
With another Living Room upstairs overlooking a large terrace I turned the apartment a bit upside down. Dining Room downstairs near the Kitchen and Living Room upstairs with a view.

The 19th century green stone fireplace surround informed the selection of dark green trim from @finepaintsofeurope. Two ‘Magiscope’ sculptures by Feliciano Bejar sit on the mantle, reflected in a patinated copper-clad wood mirror from @barkframeworks. A custom chandelier was made by Daniel Berglund.
