@dominomag recently published a home tour of our Clinton Hill brownstone (and unofficial TORTUGA showroom). We imagined a remodel that would expose each intervention we made. At the back of the house, we removed a bay window to install bifolding steel and glass doors, and kept a sliver of the original brick. We also made choices that were specific to our needs. When it came to flooring, I knew that white oak was the correct choice, but I have dark hair and it would have driven me crazy to see stray hairs on a pale floor, so we went with a 5-inch-wide black stainedāoak flooring instead. ā£

The journey to founding TORTUGA started with this home and wanting furniture that had a story to tell. I love having a dining bench and sit every day on STACKED designed by #shawnmaximo ,which shares the table with our vintage Italian dining chairs. Iām also a plant collector and live with a set of Platform Planters by @lightandladder which cluster on our mantle where my plants see the morning sunlight. ā£
