I bought my turkey last night. There’s something comforting about buying the turkey for Thanksgiving. Several years ago I took over that role from my mom, when she just wasn’t strong enough in her old age, to lift the turkey from the oven. I starting buying and cooking the turkey every year and it always gave me so much joy. Now that my mom is gone on our first holiday, and our dad is gone fir 3 years now, I will begin my own Thanksgiving tradition of having my own family for Thanksgiving. 🦃 . I am both sad and excited for the holidays. So sad to not have my mama anymore, and I still miss my dad terribly. But knowing they are together is a comfort. I’m excited for starting my own family traditions. It’s the circle of life. My parents have instilled in me family values and traditions that I will always honor. I gladly pick up the torch and carry on the traditions of Thanksgiving and Christmas with my own family, as each of my siblings will most assuredly do as well. 🦃🎄 . Even though it’s Thanksgiving at my house my week, my dining room is decked out for Christmas. I’ll add some magnolia leaves and cedar branches from my yard after Thanksgiving. I wanted to keep my table simple until then. 🎄 .
