{Let’s talk about panelling} It’s so simple to do, there are so many detailed step by step guides but here’s a brief guide of how we created ours. (Ignore that we have no carpet yet!) What we used: MDF: B&Q cut this to size but at the moment are only doing 4 cuts per customer. Worth checking local timber merchants or homebase. We cut up large sheets from wickes ourselves and made a cutting jig for our circular saw which made cutting strips easy and accurate. We used 12mm thick mdf. Timber ledge: 14mm thick and 45mm deep. Extras: Grab adhesive/no more nails, caulk, sand paper, primer and paint. Step one: Decide on the width and height of your panelling. We used 40mm wide in this room and 100mm in the living room. Work out the space you need to leave between each panel. I cut a piece of mdf the size of the gap and used this as a guide instead of marking the positions on the wall. Step 2: Apply adhesive in a wave on the back and stick to the wall. Hold in place while the glue sets. Use a level to make sure it’s straight! We used tape to help add pressure while it dried. We did this for each panel and also the timber ledge. Step 3: Caulk any gaps between the panelling and the walls and panelling joints. Sand when dry. Step 4: Then it’s time to prime and paint. We used @lick black 01. Hope this helps!
