The Caro-Kann Defense together with the Sicilian Defense and the French Defense are perhaps the 3 defenses most used by black pieces in a chess game.
The Caro-Kann Defense is a very solid defense, similar in its first plays to the French Defense but with the advantage that it does not leave the white-squared bishop locked up. This defense has been used in the elite by the great world champions.
In this application all the variants are studied by seeing practical examples in PGN format and with the possibility of turning the board to see the games on the side of the white pieces or the black pieces:
